CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CMERI), under Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), invites online applications for the post of Technician (1) [Group-II] at Durgapur (West Bengal) and Extension Centre at Ludhiana (Punjab).
Established in 1958, CSIR-CMERI is a premier Institute under CSIR, involved in multidisciplinary R&D programmes across scientific disciplines for economic, environmental and societal benefits. As the only national laboratory dedicated to mechanical engineering, its core mission is to conduct research and develop cost effective and value added technologies in mechanical engineering and allied domains.

SSC/10th Standard or equivalent with Science subjects, minimum 55% marks, and ITI certificate or national/state trade certificate in Mechanic (Motor Vehicle/Diesel) from a recognized institution. Or SSC/10th with 55% marks + 2 years full-time apprentice trainee experience. Or SSC/10th with 55% marks + 3 years work experience in a Ministry/Department/Organization/PSU/Autonomous Body under Government of India/State/UT.
Knowledge of mechanical systems including engines, transmissions, and auxiliary systems; Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repair and maintenance of mechanical systems; Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in vehicles and machinery; Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation; Knowledge of tools and equipment used for maintenance and repair work; Basic understanding of fuel systems, lubrication systems, and cooling systems; Ability to assist in maintenance of engines, pumps, and mechanically driven test rigs; Basic knowledge of computer-based diagnostic tools; Team work ability; Ability to perform fieldwork and maintenance activities under demanding conditions.
