The engagement aims to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and enrich teaching, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, consultancy, and skill development activities in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and UGC Guidelines.

Tentative vacancy position for engagement of Professor of Practice (POP) at IIEST Shibpur (01 in each academic unit). Academic Units: AE & AM, Arch. & Plan, Chemistry, Civil Engg., Computer Sci & Tech., Earth Sciences, Electrical Engg., Electronics & Telecom. Engg., Humanities & Social Sciences, Information Tech., Mathematics, Mech. Engg., Metal. & Mater. Engg., Mining Engg., Physics, CHST, SAMGESS, School of VLSI Tech., SOCSAT, SoMR.

Eligibility:
- Distinguished experts who have made remarkable contributions in their professions and have proven expertise in their specific profession or role with at least 20 years of service/experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership position (For example: Executive director, CEO, President).
- A formal academic qualification may not be considered essential for this position if they have exemplary professional practice in lieu.
- Professor of Practice is not open for those in teaching profession - serving or retired.

Remuneration:
- Professor of Practice funded by IIEST, Shibpur from their own resources: Consolidated amount of Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees One Lakhs) may be offered.
- Professor of Practice funded by Industries: Remuneration mutually agreed between the industry and expert.
- Professor of Practice is on Honorary basis.

Tenure: The engagement may be initially for up to one year. The maximum duration of service should not exceed three years, extendable by one year in exceptional cases and total service should not exceed four years under any circumstances, up to the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.
