Gauhati High Court Law Clerk Answer Key 2026

The Gauhati High Court at Guwahati (High Court of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh) has released the provisional answer key for the written examination for temporary engagement of Law Clerks in the Principal Seat (Advt No. HC.I-07/2026/140/R.cell). The exam was conducted on 19 July 2026 and the answer key was released on 21 July 2026.

Eligibility

• Educational: Graduate/Post Graduate in Law or Doctorate in Law from any recognized University in India. Candidates practicing at the Bar or having professional experience or literary works in Law will get preference.
• Age Limit: UR: Maximum 40 years. Age relaxation as per rules.

Selection Process

1. Written Examination — 120 marks, 2 hours, Objective MCQ on OMR sheets
   • English: 30 marks
   • General Knowledge: 10 marks
   • General Aptitude: 10 marks
   • Knowledge in Law: 50 marks
   • Assamese Language Proficiency: 20 marks (min 40% required, qualifying only)
2. Interview/Viva-Voce — 30 marks (min 60% required). Candidates in 1:3 ratio called from written exam merit.
3. Final Merit: Written + Interview total marks. Tie-breaking by written marks, then age.

Important Notes

• Post is purely contractual and temporary — tenure initially 2 years, extendable by 1 year
• Law Clerk shall not practice Law in any courts during tenure
• No TA/DA for appearing in any stage of selection
• Candidates who applied under earlier advertisement dated 18-03-2026 need not apply again
